The Eastern Alliance for Greenhouse Action is a collaborative organisation between sustainability & environment departments from Melbourne’s east, who ‘drive environmental sustainability initiatives in a coordinated manner in the eastern region’. They needed a website, and I was fortunate enough to win the tender to design & deliver it.

A simple, engaging, responsive and easy to update site was called for.

Normally images play a large role in any website, but with EAGA it was necessary to use them only sparingly. Their goal was to have a site where the information spoke for itself, and not have to rely on bland, stock images.

Typography and layout were therefore key in delivering the site for EAGA. Two Google Web Fonts, Lato and Merriweather, were used together with the sans-serif font Lato being used for headlines, and Merriweather making up the bulk of the text.

The site, being as it lives in ‘Council Land’, also had to look great in IE8.
